FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear x̌alilc Families,

I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the spring weather! The combination of chilly mornings, intermittent rain, and warm afternoons means we have accumulated a lot of unclaimed outer layers! Please be sure to check out the lost and found for missing items!

This week we celebrate the incredible dedication and hard work of our incredible staff—certificated and classified—during Staff Appreciation Week! Our wonderful PTO organized special 90’s themed treats to show our gratitude for all they do to support our students’ learning and growth.

Our character trait this week is courage. Students are practicing doing the right thing even when it is hard.

As always, thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we can make this another fantastic month filled with learning, appreciation, and celebration!

Warm regards,

Whitney

CLASS PLACEMENT INPUT FORM
2024-2025 Class Placement

This is the final week to fill out this form! The time of year has come for us to begin next year's placement process. If you have information about your child that would be helpful for us in making classroom assignments, we would like to hear from you.  Please know, this form is OPTIONAL.

Your input will be considered in the placement decision and shared with the new classroom teacher.  There are many factors that impact placement decisions including balance of boys and girls, balance of students with specific learning needs, and class size.

Requests for individual teachers will not be acceptedHowever, input regarding your child's learning style, preferred learning environment, social context or other factors the school may not be familiar with can be helpful to the placement team.

Please use the google form at the Class Placement Input Form link to submit your information.  Class placement input will close on May 10, 2024.

COINS FOR KINDNESS

Coins for Kindness

Hello x̌alilc Families,

Thanks to everyone for making a difference during our Great Kindness Challenge week.  It was wonderful to see so many students finish their Kindness Checklist and bring in coins.

I am pleased to share our totals for the Kind Coins for Kenya campaign. You might be surprised at how much value one jar of coins can hold. I know I sure was!

Over the annual Great Kindness Challenge week, x̌alilc students & staff raised $1,275.14. The PTO then generously matched it at 100%  for a grand total of $2,550.28!

This donation supports the expansion of the Kids for Peace School of Mikei, Kenya. Additionally, some classrooms opted to use portions of their collection to sponsor a Kenyan student. These individual sponsorships will provide uniforms, breakfast/lunch, and partial tuition for 15 students this year!

I am happy and proud of our kids rallying behind the coin drive. It is a testament to how seemingly small acts of kindness can add up to create a significant impact.

Thank you for your support!

💛 Kindly,

Katie Brase

x̌alilc Counselor

ABC CHECK-IN

It's time to do the ABCs for all students returning to BISD for the 2024-25 school year!

Our Annual Back-to-school Check-in (ABC) process lets us know that your student(s) are returning to our schools for 2024-25 and allows parents/guardians to review annual information.

The ABCs must be completed* for all students attending BISD schools in 2024-25 — this includes both new and returning students.  Access the ABCs by logging into your Family Access account. It should take about 15 minutes (or less!) to complete.

If you need assistance with the ABC process (such as translation, accessing technology, or other questions), please contact the office manager at your student's school.

*Class placement/class schedules will not be released in August until the ABCs are completed. But why delay? Go ahead and take care of it today!
