About Me

Hi, my name is Kelly Pellegrino. I have been teaching since 1999. I have taught kindergarten, first, and second grade in Washington and Nevada. I began my teaching career in Nevada after being a field biologist for 10 years. My husband, two daughters, and I moved to Washington in 2011 to raise our two daughters in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. In our spare time, we enjoy hiking, camping, and kayaking.

I am looking forward to a new and exciting year. It is my job to encourage each child to take risks, to feel safe to make mistakes, and to allow them the opportunity to learn new skills and concepts. I look forward to working with you in order to support your child’s learning. I will encourage students’ questions, answers (right or wrong), and ideas. I believe that students will decide which information is important to them and will use this information to reach a higher level of cognition. The information they learn adds to or replaces prior knowledge. My role as the teacher is to provide appropriate and significant material needed for them to reach this new level of understanding.

I look forward to working with you and your child this year!
