Family Connection Days

Dear Kindergarten Families,

Welcome to x̌alilc (Halilts) Elementary! If you didn’t know, class placements are available through Skyward Family Access. Kindergarten students' first full day of school will be on Friday, September 5, 2025.  

Please save these dates!  
  • Tuesday, September 2 OR Wednesday, September 3:  There will be a 20 minute conference both parents and student attend
AND
  • Thursday, September 4: Both parents and students will attend a 1.5 hour session either in the morning or afternoon (Last Names A-M 8:45-10:15 or Last Names N-Z 12:15-1:45)

These days help create a smooth transition for your student into kindergarten by:
  • Building stamina for all students
  • Allowing teachers to meet students and learn about their specific needs
  • Building trust and addressing questions in a one-on-one conference
  • Learning routines to build a strong classroom community from day one
  • Incorporating OSPI’s best practices

Our Family Connection Days will have two parts:

Family Conferences both parents and students attend: 
Tuesday, September 2nd and Wednesday, September 3rd
      
Halilts Hang-out both parents and students attend:
Thursday, September 4th
  •  Last Names (A-M) Session A: 8:45 AM - 10:15 AM
  •  Last Names (N-Z) Session B: 12:15 PM - 1:45 PM
Students: 
  • Will spend 1.5 hours in their classroom learning routines, and meeting classmates
  • Send your student with a snack, water bottle, and backpack on this day.
Parents/guardians 
  • Will attend an orientation in the library
  • Meet the principal, office manager, and counselor
  • Fill out paperwork
  • PTO is hosting a time to connect with other parents
