March Attendance
Great Kindness Challenge

Great Kindness Challenge

Looking ahead to the week of March 30th (week leading up to spring break), x̌alilc will participate in our annual Great Kindness Challenge (GKC).

This national event is a week dedicated to doing acts of kindness for people in our school and community. This year’s theme is Kindness Grows Here. Students and staff will participate in a variety of ways, of which you’ll hear more about as the date draws nearer.

Until then, we wanted to let you know for your planning purposes, of our spirit-wear themes for each day. Students are invited to dig into the spirit by dressing up (even a little bit counts). The idea is to have fun, keep it joyful, not spend extra money, and to be creative.
Great Kindness Challenge

Food & Supplies Drive for Kindness

As a part of our Great Kindness Challenge, next week we will be collecting donations to support the Kitsap Immigration Assistance Center (KIAC).

KIAC's mission is to work for the well-being and empowerment of immigrants through education, advocacy, and social justice. Their programs include family medical services, legal services, interpretation, youth services, etc.

KIAC puts together food bags for their clients once a month. The types of donated items that would be appreciated would be
  • Specific foods - dry black beans, white rice, cooking oil, sugar, and maseca corn flour)
  • Childrens' books - in Spanish or bilingual English/Spanish
  • Household goods - toilet paper, dish soap, laundry soap, toothpaste, shampoo
  • Diapers and baby wipes - size 4-5 diapers being most needed.

We will be collecting these items starting NEXT WEEK, but we wanted to give you the information for planning! We look forward to sharing some kindness!

Culture Club

Culture Club

The purpose of Culture Club is to create a space where every child feels valued, included, and inspired to embrace diversity in all its forms—a place where all students can live our school values: “Be Safe, Be Respected, Be Yourself.”

What is Culture Club?
  • Culture Club is a space where students can explore the language of belonging and learn how to advocate for themselves and others in a safe and supportive environment. Through engaging activities, students will:
  • Develop tools to express their experiences and perspectives with confidence
  • Learn ways to create and respect personal space and boundaries
  • Build connections with peers who share similar experiences while learning from those with different perspectives
  • Explore resources and practices that encourage self-advocacy and strengthen a sense of inclusion and community

Our goal is to create an environment where every child’s identity—cultural, personal, and familial—is recognized and respected. By participating, students will deepen their appreciation for the diversity that enriches our community and grow as compassionate, globally-minded individuals.
