BISD Recognized Among Washington’s Top Performing School Districts

The Bainbridge Island School District has been recognized by the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) as one of the top-performing school districts in Washington State through the inaugural State Superintendent’s Award for Educational Excellence.

Announced on March 5, 2026, the award honors 46 school districts statewide for their commitment to student success. Districts were recognized either among the top 25 districts in overall educational achievement during the previous school year or the top 25 districts demonstrating the greatest progress over the past three years.

This recognition reflects the collective work of our Bainbridge Island community—but most importantly, it is a testament to the dedicated educators and staff members who show up each day to support, challenge, and inspire our students. From classrooms to counseling offices, transportation to nutrition services, and every role in between, it is the commitment of our staff that makes this level of student success possible.

A Stellar Day of Discovery!

Thank you to the Halilts PTO for bringing the magic of the Seattle Pacific Science Center directly to our halls! It was truly an amazing day of exploration and wonder. Our students had the chance to dive deep into the awesomeness of space. 2nd -4th graders journeyed through the stars in the portable planetarium while kindergartners and 1st graders engaged in interactive classroom visits. Everyone was able to explore hands-on with the incredible exhibits.

We are so grateful to the PTO for funding this exciting day of discovery—it’s experiences like these that spark a lifelong love for science and exploration in our students. Thank you for making it possible!

March Attendance Note

March Attendance Note

This spring, our schools are focusing on “Spring Into Attendance”—a positive reminder that growth happens when students show up. Each day in school helps students build skills, strengthen connections, and continue blooming academically and socially.
Just like plants need consistent care to grow, students thrive with consistent attendance. Arriving at school on time and ready to start the day is just as important, helping students begin the morning with their classmates and not miss important learning time. Showing up each day and being on time supports learning, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging.
Together, we can help our students grow, learn, and bloom this spring!
