February Attendance Note

This February, our attendance focus is “I Belong Here,” as part of our Show Up & Show Out campaign. We’re highlighting how caring relationships with teachers and staff help young students feel welcomed, connected, and supported at school.

Small, everyday moments—like greeting students by name, checking in after an absence, and offering encouragement—help children feel safe and valued. When students feel they belong, they are more likely to enjoy school, show up each day, and engage in learning.

A strong sense of belonging supports academic success and student well-being. At BISD, EVERY student and EVERY family are valued. Together, we can create warm, welcoming school communities where every child knows they matter—and that we are better when they are here.

  • Congratulations Blakely - 93% of students have attended 90% of the school year!
  • Congratulations Halilts - 94% of students have attended 90% of the school year!
  • Congratulations Ordway - 94% of students have attended 90% of the school year!
  • Congratulations Sakai- 93% of students have attended 90% of the school year!

Highly Capable

Highly Capable Referral Window

The Highly Capable Program referral window is open from February 23 through March 6. Families are invited to refer students in grades K–1, 3–4, and 6–12 who demonstrate advanced academic potential.

Students in grades 2 and 5 will be universally screened and do not need a referral.

The link to the referral form will be posted on our HC page of the BISD website on February 23rd.

Lost and Found

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is full! Please be sure to check the lost and found during Conferences. All unclaimed items will be Donated end of day February 27, 2026.

Remember to label coats and jackets, as well as lunch boxes. We’d love to be able to reconnect your child with their misplaced gear. Sharpies are a great option as are purchased clothing stickers from online vendors. Save yourself time and money and label their gear.

BusRight App

BusRight App Launched

We’re excited to share that we launched the BusRight app and look forward to families using this new tool that offers greater visibility and real-time updates for student transportation.

Activations emails have been sent to families. Please check your inbox for next steps.

What to Look For:
Families of bus riders will receive an activation email with simple, step-by-step instructions to set up their BusRight account and begin using the app once the system is live.

Why We’re Excited About BusRight:
Once active, BusRight will put transportation information right at your fingertips!
  • Real-Time Tracking: Follow your child’s bus on a live map
  • Arrival Times: View estimated arrival times for your specific stop
  • Stay Informed: Receive notifications about route updates or delays
