Hello, Orcas! I'm excited to teach at x̌alilc. I've been a teacher since 2012, and my classrooms over the years have spanned kindergarten through 4th grade and have included multilingual learners, Highly Capable students, and twice-exceptional kids. Earlier in my career, I taught at a Highly Capable school for several years in Seattle Public Schools. Our family has called Bainbridge Island home since 2023.
The values at the heart of my classroom are autonomy and interdependence. I want every student to grow as an independent thinker, someone who can make choices, take risks, and own their learning. I also want our class to discover that we do our best work when we support and learn from one another. Getting to build that kind of community alongside my students is one of the things I love most about teaching.
Outside of school, you'll find me at pilates, working on fiber art projects, or out and about with my two kids and our wild bernedoodle, Kulshan.
