From the Principal
Happy December, Orca Families!

I hope you were able to enjoy time with loved ones over the Thanksgiving holiday. It was such a nice break from the rain and we finished strong with sun yesterday!

I've said it before and I'll say it over and over...I am so grateful to be here at x̌alilc and on the island! It was so fun to see some of our students, and their adults, out and about in the community during our days off. I love receiving hugs and shy greetings when students recognize who I am!

Be sure to check out our Scholastic Book Fair! Students can purchase items during their Library time. In addition, we have our Family Night on Thursday from 5-6:30. Money raised from our sales is used to purchase new books and replace lost or well loved books. This is a great opportunity to stock up on good reads for your students for the winter break!

eWallets can be preloaded for the Book Fair allowing your students to shop without having to bring cash into school. Here is the link: Book Fair ewallet Parent Set up.

As winter break quickly approaches, the staff is working to keep school structured and predictable over the next three weeks. The transition between breaks with holidays on either end can be dysregulating for students and cause anxiety. Regular routines, attendance, and arriving to school on time can help!

Thanks for all you do to support your students and our staff! I am grateful for your partnership!

Warmly,
Rhonda Walton, Principal

PTO December Staff Appreciation
Let’s make this holiday season as special as our incredible x̌alilc (Halilts) staff! This holiday season we’ll be creating a festive hot beverage bar and cookie counter, where all staff can fill thank-you gift boxes to take home and enjoy!

Click here to view available slots in December and sign up to show your appreciation!

Safety First
Safety First!
Bainbridge Island winter mornings and evenings are dark (and often rainy), making it difficult for drivers to see students walking or riding bikes. Before your student leaves for the day, please be sure they have the proper equipment to make them as visible as possible.
